Double Major/Academic Minor

Double Major Program: It refers to the program that enables students who meet the success requirements and other conditions to take courses simultaneously from two diploma programs of the same higher education institution and receive two separate diplomas.

 

Terms of Application

a) The student can enter the announced double major program earliest at the beginning of the third semester and latest at the beginning of fifth semester in four-year programs, In five year programs the students should apply  at the beginning of the seventh semester, in six year program application should be at the beginning of the ninth semester. In major associate degree programs applications should be at the beginning of the second semester at the earliest and  at the beginning of the third semester at the latest.

b) In order to apply for double major diploma programs, the student must  be successful in all the courses that are required to be taken in the major diploma program.

c) The CGPA of the student who will apply for  the double major program should be at least 70 points out of a score of 100 points, and should be in the top 20 % in terms of class success of the major program he/she is currently enrolled in.

d) Except for the suspension of studies, the student must not lose a semester/year.

e) The students having a CGPA of at least 70 out of 100 points in their major diploma program, but who do not in the top 20% of their class can apply only if they have a score not less than the base score of the double major  program of the relevant year. The applications of these students will be evaluated after acceptance of those who have a CGPA of at least 70 out of 100 points and at  the top 20% of their class  according to remaining quota. 

f)  For double major programs, which have compulsory foreign language preparatory class programs

Students who fail the foreign language proficiency exam cannot be accepted to Double Major Programs which have compulsory foreign language preparatory classes

 

Minor Program:  It refers to the program that enables students enrolled in a diploma program to receive a document (minor certificate) that does not replace an offical diploma,  by taking a limited number of courses on a specific subject within the same higher education institution, provided that they meet the stipulated conditions.

 

Terms of Application:

a) Applications can be made at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the sixth semester at the latest.

b) At the time of application, the student's CGPA in the major program must be at least 65 out of 100 points.

c) In order for the student to apply to the minor program, he/she must be successful in all the courses he/she is obliged to take in the major diploma program until the semester he/she applies.

d) Except for the suspension of studies, the student must not lose a semester/year.

e) Students who fail the foreign language proficiency exam cannot be admitted to the minor program, which has a compulsory foreign language preparatory class .
